Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026.
In short
We use your CV, job description, employer materials, and interview answers to generate your reports. Your data is never used to train AI models, is deleted after 30 days, and can be deleted sooner at any time.
What we collect
- Your email address: to notify you when your readiness report is ready and to send your interview feedback.
- Your work history: the text you give us about your experience. If you upload a CV file we extract the text content and never store the original document. If you paste CV text or a LinkedIn profile URL, only the text itself is stored: nothing else from the source page or file.
- Job description text: the position description you provide.
- Employer research documents: text extracted from any documents, URLs, or videos you provide about the employer.
- Interview transcripts: your practice interview conversation.
- Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
How we process your data
Your documents are sent to one of three AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) for analysis. All three have the same contractual policy for API customers: your data is not used to train their models. You can read their terms directly:
- Anthropic: anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms
- OpenAI: openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies
- Google: ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms
All three providers retain request logs for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring, then delete them. This is separate from training.
We also use the Tavily Search API to look up publicly available employer information. Only the employer name and role title are sent to Tavily, never your personal information.
How long we keep your data
Your session is deleted after 30 days. That covers your CV, job description, employer research, interview transcript, and interview feedback. You can also delete it sooner from the readiness report or feedback page.
We keep two things longer than 30 days:
- Interview outcome feedback. If you click one of the buttons in our follow-up email to tell us how the real interview went, we keep your answer (offer / still going / didn't go ahead) plus the role title, the employer name, your helpfulness rating, any note you wrote, and a snapshot of the public employer research from your session. No CV, no interview answers, no email address, no name. It lets us see whether the product is actually helping people get jobs.
- Testimonials you approve. If you tick the “you can use this” box when leaving a note or testimonial, we also keep your first name and the role title so we can quote you in marketing (never the employer). Both fields are shown pre-filled and editable before you submit, so you see exactly what will be attributed to you. Email privacy@electricinterview.com any time to have it removed.
We also keep thumbs-up / thumbs-down product feedback (for example, the in-product rating that asks how the practice interview felt) past 30 days. It contains the rating, where on the site you gave it, and any short note you typed. It isn't linked to your CV or transcript.
You can delete your data at any time by clicking the “Delete my data” button on your Readiness Report page. This permanently removes everything: CV text, interview transcripts, interview feedback. We also clear any traces from your own browser at the same time.
What we store in your browser
To prevent accidental data loss, we temporarily store in-progress form data in your browser while you're filling things out. This is cleared once you submit.
We also keep a small session marker so you can come back to a brief or report you've already paid for without re-authenticating, plus an attribution record of how you first arrived (covered under analytics below). None of this leaves your device.
What we don't do
- We never sell personal data.
- We never share your CV, job description, or interview content with third parties other than the AI providers listed above.
- We never store your original uploaded files, only extracted text.
- We don't use advertising or retargeting cookies.
Analytics and cookies
If you consent, we use PostHog and Google Analytics 4 to collect usage analytics: page views, funnel steps, and error rates. No CV content, job description text, or interview transcripts are ever included in analytics events. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer.
Before you make a consent choice, we set two small cookies that don't require analytics consent: a session cookie so we can tell your browser apart from anyone else's when you return to your readiness report, and an attribution cookie (ei_attribution) that records how you first arrived (UTM tags, referrer, landing page) so we can understand which marketing channels work. Neither contains personal information.
Security
- All stored data is encrypted.
- All connections to the site are encrypted.
- Your session link is private and hard to guess; no one can access your data without it.
- We use Supabase for our database, which is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
Your rights
- Access: your Readiness Report and feedback report are accessible via the link emailed to you.
- Deletion: click “Delete my data” on any session page for instant, permanent deletion.
- Download your feedback: your interview feedback can be downloaded as a PDF.
